Monday 25th August - walk **** – The Dip to the Ferry with breakfast by the Deben – sunny and warm.

Woke to wall to wall sinshine with light winds, after doing all our word games Mag suggested we do something fairly eary before it gets too hot and crowded! A bike ride would have been good but my mountain bike is sadly dead and I am in the market for an electric one, has anyone got any recommendations? After making a flask and heating up our pastries we drove down to The Dip and parked in the windsurfers carpark bumping into the Coles returning after walking their dog and had a nice chat. We then set off along the prom towards Felixstowe Ferry with a gentle onshore breeze it was quite pleasant and not as crowded as expected but the tide was coming in and beach was in short supply in places! We stopped at our spot at the mouth of the River Deben to enjoy a cupps and pastry watching the world go by! Mag read her book while I watched the large fleet of 420 dinghies slowly head out for the last day of their National Championship! An old barge also motored in and several yachts were sailing out to make the most of the good weather! Well rested we ambled back, I had one eye on the breeze as it was expected to build but I was not overly keen on sailing on a Bank Holiday as parking would be a nightmare but when the wind remained marginal at best we had a yummy chicken sandwind in out pretty and quiet little garden before Mag labelled some plants while I did my exercises. There is several days of breeze coming next week so hope to get out a few times!
